Arranmore Lifeboat SOS Day

The annual SOS Day will be held in the Boathouse in Leabgarrow on Saturday 13th February from 1pm-4pm.
Activities will include:
• Message in a bottle
• Magic water euro
• Hammer the nail
• Car wash, amongst other fun activities.
B.B.Q, tea, coffee and goodies will also be available.
The winner of last year’s message in a bottle will be announced at 3pm. There were five bottles found and replied to, the first from Tory and all the others on Scottish Islands. The winner will be the bottle that travelled the furthest. Is it yours?
Come and find out, enjoy the food and fun and help keep our lifeboat afloat.

Fadó Book Launch in aid of Arranmore Lifeboat

Kevin O’ Donnel’s new book Fado will be launched on the island at Ionad an Chrois Bhealaigh and The Glen hotel on Saturday/Sunday 8/9th August. All proceeds from the launch will go to Arranmore Lifeboat. See Fadó for details. All welcome!
Update: A total of €370 was raised from the proceeds of Fadó for Arranmore Lifeboat. A big thank you to Kevin and Coleen for their kind donation!

Mini Marathon

Congratulations to islander Margit Steckham who completed the 10K Flora Women’s Mini-Marathon in aid of the RNLI in Dublin on the 1st June 2009. Well done!

Yacht "Advalorem" Rescue

The lifeboat was called out to the yacht Advalorem after it developed engine trouble to the South of the island at 19:31 on the 7 June 2009. A tow was attached and the yacht was brought back safely to Burtonport harbour complete with dolphin escort!

Nora Flanagan Honoured

Arranmore Lifeboat press officer and former crew member, Nora Flanagan, was honoured on the 23rd May along with two others at a ceremony in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin. Nora was nominated for the award by RNLI operations in recognition of her hard work supporting the RNLI over the years. Broadcaster and presenter Pat Kenny, a patron of the RNLI, presented Nora with a statuete and certificate. Congratulations and keep up the good work!
