Short Film, extras required
Dear community,
My name is Norah Mc Gettigan
and I am from Donegal town.
Over
the Easter Period, ie. from April 10 - 15, I will be on Arranmore Island
shooting part of a short film
which I am making together with a team from the Polish National Film School.
The screenplay is a short story,
which I myself wrote and you will find a brief synopsis at the bottom of
the page. The film we hope will eventually be screened as a one- hour drama.
That is our aim but we first have to make it!
When I first visited the island
I was at once struck but the incredible location of the old graveyard facing
the sea and it is there that we would hope to stage a funeral procession
along with the end blessing by the graveside. Needless to say in order
to stage a funeral procession I will need a large number of volunteers
to join this procession and fill out the funeral scene.
I am also looking for some local
volunteers who may perhaps be interested in playing a number of small roles.
These include:
Regarding clothing: We would be requesting that all people dressed in dark clothing as customary
for a funeral.
I
hope to be on Arranmore this coming Monday
22 March. This will of course
have to be confirmed. I would
hope to have a confirmation by Saturday 20 March. If we are unable
to travel to Arranmore on this date then another date will be arranged.
I would be very grateful if those interested in taking part and perhaps
spreading the word further, would be willing to meet with me for 20
minutes when I am there. This way I could explain in a little more
detail.
I also hope that you will be
notified at Mass this coming Sunday!
I hope there will be people willing
to help. I would be very grateful.
I look forward to meeting you.

Synopsis
This is the story of a homecoming,
where a young woman, Laura, returns to the island after a couple of years
to the funeral of her best friend.
This homecoming and all the emotions
that come with it build the backbone of the story. Within the story itself
there is a second story-line surrounding a young mans stag party as the
day of his wedding draws near. The accidental meeting of both these events
later on in the film build the drama, throwing both humour and tragedy,
joy and pain, love and loneliness together and create a feeling of hope
and warmth at a time of great sadness.
