Neil
Boyle Benefit Fund
Neil Boyle is the
son of Kathleen Boyle, formally of Magherroarty and the late
Philly Neily Boyle, Arranmore. At the age of 33
Neil had everything to live for, he was skipper and engineer
on the fishing vessel “Glor na dTonn” and fished
out of Galway. On the 25th September 2002 this was sadly brought
to an end when he was involved in a serious road accident which
left him paralysed and with brain damage. He is currently being
cared for at St. Conal’s rehabilitation unit in Letterkenny,
Co. Donegal. His mother, Kathleen, has been at his bedside
since the accident but would prefer to care for Neil at the
family home on Arranmore. This will involve modifications to
their home as well as the expense of buying specialised equipment
and transport to help care for Neil.
The investigation
into the accident found that it happened due to Neil suffering
a
brain haemorrhage just before the accident. Neil was the driver
of the car and had fully comprehensive insurance but the insurance
company has decided that it was an “act of God” and
have refused to pay any compensation. Because of this a fundraising
committee along with a trust fund has been set up to help Neil
during the years of care that will be required.
If you feel
you could help out in any way by organising a fundraising
event or making a contribution to the fund, please make donations
