Eileen on 9th November 1935. Nineteen migrant workers returning
home from Scotland lost their lives. The whole poem was read
by Joseph Linnane from Radio Éireann on Monday, 5th
December, 1938. A recording of the 14-minute version of the
poem, read by the author, was broadcast from Radio Éireann
on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the disaster, Wednesday,
9th November, 1955. First published, in a cut 25-stanza version,
in "Romantic Donegal, Its Songs, Poetry and Ballads."
