Peter "Neily" Boyle (1892-1915)

Man of Aran tells the story of Peter Boyle (Peter "Neily" Boyle son of Neily "Aphort" Boyle & Brigid O'Donnell from Crickamore, Dungloe, Co. Donegal) who died while rescuing people from a capsized boat (The Eastland) on the Chicago river, USA on Saturday 24th July 1915. 833 people died in this tragedy.

Beaver Island - The American Arranmore A Donegal Annual article about Arranmore's connection with Beaver Island, USA.
A poem recounting the Arranmore Disaster which took place at Eileen on 9th November 1935. Nineteen migrant workers returning home from Scotland lost their lives. The whole poem was read by Joseph Linnane from Radio Éireann on Monday, 5th December, 1938. A recording of the 14-minute version of the poem, read by the author, was broadcast from Radio Éireann on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the disaster, Wednesday, 9th November, 1955. First published, in a cut 25-stanza version, in "Romantic Donegal, Its Songs, Poetry and Ballads." collected by Harry Percival Swan, H.R. Carter Publications Ltd., Belfast, July, 1964.
