Arranmore
United hosted a night at the races in the Atlantic Bar Arranmore Island on
April 10th. This was the first time such a fund raiser was held on
the island. The first race began at 10:30 and the Atlantic Bar was packed to
capacity. The night saw big money changing hands a total of €4,000 was
taken
in
and after paying out on the winners, Arranmore United raised €2,370.
The club
had expenses of €8,839 for the 2003/2004 season so this was an important night
for the football club. The main race of the night was race No. 7 the auction
race.
The horses in this race sold for between €80 - €200. Noel Early's horse won the
race and received €400. Other race winners on the night included “Pipe
Band” owned by Danny Neil, “The Walker” owned by Rosie Dillon
and “Transition
Pilot” owned
by Hugh Patrick.
