Arranmore Youths FC

Two Arranmore Youth teams were founded during the month of July 2003, an U-10 team and an U-12 team. A committee was formed to oversee the running of the teams.

Chairman - Brian Proctor
Secretary - Anthony Proctor
Treasurer - Francis McCauley
U-12 Coach - Tony Early
U-10 Coach - Mickey Dubh McHugh

Arranmore YouthsThe committee organised a number of raffles, quizzes and fun days to raise money for the teams. A total of €2,200 was raised. The U-10 football rigs were donated by the former Arranmore Youth Club and the U-12 football rigs were donated by Barhale. After a number of training sessions the U-12s played their first game against the younger Gaeltacht Students from Coláiste Árainn Mhór. The final score was 3-2 to the islanders with goals coming from Gavin McGlanaghy, Ruain Boyle and Kyla Early.

Dungloe V Arranmore
Two weeks later both teams (10s &12s) travelled to Dungloe. The 12s won their match with goals from Gavin and Micheal McHugh. The 10s were defeated, but all enjoyed a good day out.

Arranmore V All Stars
This match was played as a curtain raiser to the John Greene Townlands final. This was a very close match, which went all the way to penalties. The all stars ran out winners in the shoot-out.

Arranmore V Glenea
The youths travelled with the senior team who played Glenea in the Area Cup. Glenea proved too strong for Árainn with the game ending 5-1.

Arranmore V Ballyshannon
A crowd of 42 children travelled to this game with the main event taking place after the match, a trip to Waterworld in Bundoran. Ballyshannon won the match with a 6-1 result. So off we went to Waterworld for a much needed boost. The kids and the adults had a great time in the pool and on the slides. After Waterworld there was a fun fair nearby so we headed for that for an hour. After all our money was spent we counted the kids, nobody got lost, thank God, and we headed home.
