from The Rose of Arranmore Festival Director.
Just
a short note to say how pleased I am that the Arranmore festival
is back up and running and it gives me great pleasure on behalf
of the festival committee to extend a warm welcome to Arranmore. We

Saturday
6th August
- 2 pm Anthon Gallagher Memorial Cup, Arranmore United vs Keadue Rovers
- 8pm Opening of the 2005 Rose of Arranmore Festival by Hugh Nancy Rodgers
on the Gig Rig, also guest speakers. Music by Inchequin.
- 10pm Music in Phil Bán's by Barry Kenny.
- 12am Picking of 2005 Rose of Arranmore in Smuggler's Nite Club.
Sunday
7th August
- 1pm Soccer, Married vs Singles.
- 4pm Battle of the Clans, Leabgarrow Beach.
- 8 pm 25 Card Drive in Neily's Bar. €200 for Winners.
- 10 pm Ireland's Number 1 hypnotist Barry St. Clare in Smuggler’s
Nite Club followed by disco.
Monday
8th August
- 11am Sea-angling Competition, heaviest catch & heaviest fish. Weigh
in at Aphort pier at 4pm.
- 8pm Darts in The Glen Hotel, Francie Tom Memorial.
- 10pm Music in Phil Bán’s with Anthony Glackin.
Tuesday
9th August
- 12 pm Children's Sports Day on Leabgarrow Beach. Also sand castle competition.
- 3pm Traditional punt sailing, Dónal Rodgers Cup.
- 4pm Children's Disco in Smuggler’s Nite Club.
- 7pm Arranmore United vs Muckspreaders (in aid of Football Club)
- 10pm Presentation Dance for all events so far in Arranmore House Hotel.
Music by The Copy Cats.
Wednesday
10th August
- 3pm Car reversing and wheel changing on Aphort Beach.
- 6pm Build your own go-cart. Race for teams of 2 on Leabgarrow Beach.
- 7pm 56-pound weight throwing and rowing on Leabgarrow Beach.
- 8pm Rose of Arranmore Festival Dinner Dance (Ticket Only). Music by The
Martin Cuff Band followed by disco by DJ John Bosco.
Thursday
11th August
- 12pm Townlands Soccer Competition (John Green Cup).
- 8pm Poker Classic in The Glen Hotel. €1,000 for winner. Contact Festival
Director for seat booking as places are limited.
- 10pm First time on Arranmore. Great nights music and craic with Lightning
Strikes in Early's Bar.
Friday
12th August
- 3pm Sand shoveling competition on Leabgarrow Beach.
- 4pm Tug-of-war competition for men & women on Leabgarrow beach.
- 6pm Beer drinking competition, fastest pint.
- 10pm Rock Night with the one and only Brush Shiels followed by disco in
Smuggler's Nite Club. Not to be missed. Late ferry returning
to Burtonport.
Saturday
13th August
- 10am Fair Day at Arranmore House Hotel, Aphort. Sheep for sale,
stalls, sheep-shearing competition, mechanical bull competition
for men & women. Children's games on Aphort Strand including
slide and bouncy castle.
- 5pm Traditional punt sailing, Halifax Cup. Leabgarrow.
- 6pm Sponge Bob show for young children in Ionad Pobail Árainn Mhór.
- 8pm Mr & Mrs in Neily's Bar.
- 10pm Fair Day Dance in Arranmore House Hotel, music by Martin’s
Mountain Dew.
Sunday
14th August. Arranmore Regatta Day.

- 11am Mass at St. Crones Chapel, broadcast live on Highland Radio.
- 1 pm Blessing of the boats at Leabgarrow Pier.
- Skiff rowing race, flats rowing races, Hughie Boyle Memorial Cup traditional
punt sailing race. Arranmore lifeboat open day. Air display
by The Red Arrows. Other events on the day include bonny
baby and band competition.
- 8pm Rose of Arranmore 2005 closing and presentation dance in Early's Bar. Music
by Pat Gallagher and his new band Shindig followed by the
number 1 DJ Mr Wild.
